Tour at 10 am followed by Coffee/Tea & Cake at 11.15 am in the Cathedral Refectory.

The Anglo Saxon Minster and its role in the birth of the English nation, the personalities who inhabited it and the traces which are still visible today.  Part of this tour is outside on slightly uneven ground, suitable clothing and footwear should be worn.

Tour and Tea - First World War - In my end is my beginning

Tour and Tea: First World War – In the end is my beginning - 2pm.

25th May, 29th June, 27th July, 31st August, 28th September, 26th October, 9th November 2018.

As the commemorations for the centenary of the First World War draw to a close, we revisit all the places we have seen since 2014 - taking you down into the Crypt, along the Nave and up onto the roof. Music and poetry will be included. The tour lasts one and a half hours with cream tea afterwards.
Be prepared - 129 steps to climb! The tour will last 90 mins with a cream tea afterwards and time to talk.

Jane Austen died in Winchester in 1817, in rented rooms in College Street. She was buried in the north aisle of the Cathedral. This tour offers visitors an intimate and often amusing insight into her life and connections with the Cathedral. The tour will include a walk through the Cathedral's historic Inner Close to the house on College Street where Jane and Cassandra stayed during their time in Winchester.

Tours will be taking place on the first Saturday of the month from February to November 2018.

Tour And Tea: Stained Glass

Tour and Tea: Stained Glass. Saturday 21st July and Saturday 27 October 2018 - 10am

The Cathedral has glass spanning a period of nearly 700 years. The earliest dates from 1330, and the most modern dates to the current century.On this tour, visitors will learn about different techniques for producing coloured glass, stained, painted and pot metal, and will be shown examples of windows from several Victorian makers in addition to the mediaeval and contemporary glass.

The tours will be followed by a hot drink and cake in the Cathedral Refectory.

Modern art has been commissioned for the Cathedral since the Middle Ages and can be seen throughout this great building. Join one of our guides to discover the Cathedral's works of art and how they came to be here. After the tour enjoy a coffee or hot drink with a homemade cake in the Refectory and discuss and ask questions about what you have seen and experienced in the Cathedral.
