The Waynflete Singers Christmas Concert
The Waynflete Singers usher in the celebratory mood of Christmas with an exciting programme of choral and brass music, courtesy of Onyx Brass, described in BBC Music Magazine as "easily the classiest brass ensemble in Britain".
The programme includes three of Handel's Coronation Anthems, interspersed with Gabrieli's thrilling brass Canzonas and Heinrich Schutz's mighty setting for double choir of Psalm 100, Jauchzet dem Herrn. John Rutter's setting of the Gloria provides a brilliant and joyous opener for the second half, which concludes with a selection of Christmas Carols for choir and audience.

Britten Hymn to St Cecilia (sung by the College Chapel Choir)
Join the Winchester Music Club and musicians from Winchester College as together we celebrate the feast day of the patron saint of music, St Cecilia, in the magnificent surroundings of Winchester Cathedral. Celebratory music by the two giants of the late Baroque contrasts with a contemplative prayer by the finest English composer of the 20th century. A quartet of exciting soloists will be supported by the Music Club’s expert orchestra, under the direction of David Thomas.

Bringing together local Christmas cheer, The Brendoncare Foundation is hosting a magical night to remember at Winchester College Chapel this year. With joyous songs performed by Winchester Consort and conducted by the highly regarded Martin Neary, former Director at Music of Winchester Cathedral, this is not an evening you will want to miss.

‘Star Shine’: an evening with the stars
You are welcome to an evening of music, laughter and delight at Winchester Cathedral as the bright stars of the cathedral choir, boys, girls and lay clerks sing music for Christmas.
This year the choir is supported by stars of the opera house, in Paulo Ferreira and Clare Rutter, singing well-loved repertoire both classical and contemporary. A highlight of the evening will be a tribute to the great star of our nation, with the premiere of ‘The Queen’s Winchester Carol’ sponsored by the Friends of Winchester Cathedral. Dirk Maggs, producer and director of Radio 4’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, will remind us the comedy of Christmas, and the evening with be hosted by the star of BBC South Today, Sally Taylor.

WMC chorus will once again be holding a concert of Christmas Music in St Peter’s Church on Friday, 14th December.
This year the concert will feature music and readings from Victorian England. There will also be some congregational hymns. The concert proceeds will be split 50/50 with Age Concern Hampshire.

Voices for Hospices Choir are passionate about enabling singers to join together and raise their voices to help those with end of life and life limiting illnesses.
For us, singing is a life enhancing activity, and our concert in the wonderful Winchester Cathedral seems an appropriate way to put something back for the pleasure we all enjoy.
